I came to Cardoni Waddell in 2004 after working in public accounting for nearly 9 years. Right away I was impressed by the attention given to clients. The staff at Cardoni Waddell truly works as a team to best serve the client. The firm maintains an open door policy for anyone to discuss improvements.

Cardoni Waddell has encouraged me to continue my personal and professional growth. As a Manager in the Accounting and Auditing Department, I have had the opportunity to lead many challenging engagements. Some of the clients I have worked with since joining the firm include businesses in the industries of construction, distribution, technology, retail, wholesale, professional services, and non-profit charitable and membership organizations. I have come to realize that although the size and complexity of a particular client may vary, customer service should not.

After receiving my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting and Management in 1997 from Salisbury State University, I continued a previously established career in the insurance industry. After two years with a large public insurance company, I decided to move on to public accounting and put my degree to work for me. So in 2000, I joined a small to mid-sized firm as a staff accountant where I spent four years specializing in accounting and auditing and assisting them with substantial growth. I joined Cardoni Waddell during the summer of 2003 as a senior accountant.

After meeting with Ed Waddell and Greg Schuessler for the first time, I knew this was a firm that would fit my needs for personal growth in public accounting, while allowing me to put my family first. The staff and clients at Cardoni Waddell are unlike any others in the area. Not only do the employees feel like they are part of a family or close team, so do the clients. Currently a Manager at the firm, I have a number of years of public accounting experience and have provided a wide range of services in accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and not-for-profit organizations with exposure in industries ranging from construction, mortgage, insurance, health care, not-for-profit, retail, property management, athletic clubs, retirement plans, government contracting, restaurants, and financial institutions for medium to small sized businesses. I also have experience establishing and monitoring the firm accounting and auditing standards, installing and maintaining accounting software, and managing the firm’s IT needs.

I am a member of the MACPA. For past ten years, I have been an active committee member for the Frederick County chapter of Ducks Unlimited and for the last two years the chapter’s Treasurer. For the last ten years, I have been the assistant head coach for a LUYAA (Linganore Urbana Youth Athletic Association) area youth football program.

I first met Ed Waddell while pursuing a career with a well known builder developer. While working full time, I completed my accounting degree at the University of Baltimore and after having children decided I would sit for the CPA exam. With the help of family and friends, I was able to accomplish this task. I worked part time for several years doing consulting, preparing taxes, and volunteering on several parent association boards as well as homeowner association boards. I also coached soccer and basketball while my children were in elementary school. I then decided to pursue a career in public accounting. Ironically I came across a classified add for an open position at Cardoni Waddell. I immediately sent my resume to Ed and contacted him. Going from a part time employee to a full time CPA could have been extremely difficult. However, because of the value the firm places on family and community involvement, the transition, though not always easy, went very smooth.

I joined Cardoni Waddell in the summer of 2004. I have grown professionally and personally during my time at the firm. They have encouraged and supported my professional career and community involvement. I have made life-long friends with both clients and co-workers. Balancing home life and career is never easy, but with the support of a wonderful firm and family, the two can co-exist.

I feel blessed to be a member of the Cardoni Waddell team and look forward to many more successful years with the firm.
